If Your Marketing Efforts Are Under Sales, Read This Now

11/10/2020

The role of the CMO is the most misunderstood position in a company. According to Accenture, two-thirds of CEO’s do not believe their chief marketing officers posses the business acumen or skill set that their role requires. It was also found that companies don’t understand the value that CMO’s bring to a business.

In fact, a recent research from Korn Ferry found that CMO’s are hampered by their company’s lack of understanding. This is most likely due to the fact that many companies put marketing under sales. Professionals who have been on both sides of sales and the marketing fence found that the two functions under sales does not work. The demands between the two positions are different and the marketing team gets caught up in reactionary month to month tactics, losing focus on the long-term priorities of growing prospects and brand value.

The trend for forward thinking CEO’s is they are starting to believe and empower their marketing leaders to go beyond tactics and to focus on their markets with 83% believing that Marketing can be a major growth driver. This trend will work its way to smaller and midsized businesses. As a decision maker for your business, or one you may consult with, if there are doubts that those leading the marketing efforts are more reactionary than visionary, and are not getting the strategic thinking focused on building and developing the brand to lead to future growth, then perhaps the solution can’t be found from within.

That's where I can help. Let’s spend a few minutes to discuss how to improve your marketing performance to ultimately drive more sales. Email or call me and see how a free, one-hour consultation could be the smartest marketing investment you'll ever make for your business.
